For news on upcoming coaching seminars as well as youth soccer news, I frequently visit nscaa.com, usyouthsoccer.org, and ussoccer.com. These are the coaching schools for the United States that standardize soccer coaching education. For information on sports psychology I visit positivecoach.com, leadershipnow.com, blog.ted.com, coachjohnwooden.com and ted.com. These sites often have great information regarding motivation, self-esteem, and strategies to positively impacted people. Finally for information regarding youth athletic development I find videos on vimeo.com, search google and youtube.
The Internet helps learning when I have a focused mission on what I am researching. I really enjoy video presentations and the informative use of photos and diagrams. I feel that the Internet distracts me from learning when I am aimlessly searching. Also, when a site is over cluttered with unrelated links and advertisements, it often disrupts my flow of learning. I believe that technology is vital to the maximization of learning opportunities. The ease at which information is found sparks an intrinsic motivation to explore further and find more information. Also, the interactivity between blog participants allows participants to get a sense of not only what the experts think but what their peers think as well. This thought provoking result can only lead to more substantial knowledge retention.
